Merlot Podere La Pace 2022 – IGT Costa Toscana

This 100% Merlot from Podere La Pace captures the true character of the Tuscan Maremma. A deep ruby red with garnet highlights, it opens with vivid aromas of black cherry, redcurrant and plum, layered with notes of leather, clove and a subtle toasty character.

On the palate, the wine is rich and elegant, showing plenty of spicy and fruity complexity. Full-bodied yet smooth tannins lead into a long, lingering finish.

Grown from vines planted in 2011 on calcareous clay soil, farmed organically and hand-harvested, this wine is aged for 16 months in 225L barriques, followed by a minimum of 12 months in bottle — a patient process that gives the Merlot its depth and character.

Food pairing: excellent with red meats, game, or slow-cooked dishes.
